China on Thursday denied US President Donald Trump’s claim that both sides were actively involved in the tariff and said that unilateral tariffs should be withdrawn against the nation in the United States.
China’s push on China’s tariff, US import tariff is now more than 5% on products made by China, Mr. Trump said on Tuesday that the final tariff rate of Chinese products “would be” sufficient “. However, Beijing said Thursday that any suggestion of progress on the issue was as baseless as “trying to catch the wind”.
Trade war between China and the United States has increased over the past few weeks, each nation has its import responsibilities hiking in tight-free tat multiple times. However, the Trump administration has provided some signs this week that they are interested in a trade agreement, on Wednesday with the Treasury Secretary Scott Besent that the Trump administration has “a big deal of commerce” about trade between the United States and China.
And Mr Trump told reporters at the beginning of the week that “all things are active” when asked if he was involved with China, though Besent said there was no formal discussion.
“China’s position is consistent and we are open to consultation and dialogue, but on the basis of mutual respect and in equal manner, any kind of suggestion and discussion should be arranged,” said Hi Yadong, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce. “Any claim about the progress of China-US trade discussion is baseless because of trying to catch the wind and have no real basis.”
Trump kept 5% tariff on import from China, and China returned with 120% tariff in the United States. Although Trump has given other countries a 90 -day break on tariffs, because their leaders have promised to negotiate in the United States, China remains the exception.
Instead, Beijing has raised its own tariffs and deployed other economic measures in response to a promise of “fighting”. For example, China has limited the export of rare earth minerals and raised multiple cases against the United States at the World Trade Organization.
China has also made it clear that the tariffs currently contained in the discussion should be involved in cancellation.
“Unilateral tariff increase system was started by the United States. If the United States really wants to solve the problem, it should face up to the logical voices of all sides of the home, all unilateral tariffs against China should be completely abolished and the ways to solve the differences through equal conversations, he said.” He said.
Despite the economic management against China, Trump said on Tuesday that he would “be very nice” and would not play hardball with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“We’re going to work together with very happy and ideally,” Trump said.
