New York Rangers hire Mike Sullivan as coach days after he and the Pittsburgh Penguins parted ways

New York Rangers Mike Sullivan has been appointed as coach, he and Pittsburg Penguins a few days after agreed in some parts.

General Manager Chris Durya announced the move on Friday, the top candidate of the organization who was out of work for less than the entire business week.

“Mike Sullivan has established himself as one of NHL’s leading coaches,” says Drury. “Mike brings the presence of a championship level behind the bench … … when we started this process and Mike became an available option to talk to us, immediately he was clear that he was the best coach to lead our team.”

Sullivan replaced Peter Lavolet, who was dismissed after missing the Rangers Play Offs after traveling to the Eastern Conference final last year. Sullivan, who was trained back to the Stanley Cup in 2016 in 2016, and in ’17 he was given the responsibility of trying to return the Rangers as an immediate contestant.

Drews took Sullivan not too much time after receiving his own multi -contract extension.

“Mike’s track records and NHL are successful and internationally speaking on behalf of myself and I’m looking forward to seeing him behind the Rangers Bench,” Malik James Dolan says. “I would like to welcome Mike back to the Rangers Agency.”

57-year-old Sullivan spent four seasons as Rangers Assistant under the then coach and still close friends and believing John Tortoresella for 25-5 years. He trained Drawuri during that period and two USAs worked together with hockey, recently faced 4 countries in February, and part of the US team for the 2026 Milan Olympics.

Tortoresella – who was dismissed as the coach of Philadelphia Flyers in late March – he could be a candidate to join Sullivan as he did in 4 countries, but no assistant appointment was confirmed on Friday and the company is expected to discuss the inauguration in the coming days.
