Nashville, Ten. – Nashville, Ten. (AP)-NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said on Tuesday that the Television ratings on the opening weekend of the play-off saw the league in about a quarter of the century.
Speaking at the CAA World Congress of Sports presented by the Sports Business Journal, the silver was particularly satisfied with the first eight game ratings – four on Saturday, four more on Sunday.
Before the NBA official rating was released, Silver said, “The highest rated opening weekend … so numbers are great.”
The league says the average of eight games in the weekend has an average of 1.5 million viewers, which has increased the highest average and 5 % in the opening weekend last season.
ESPN has added that it was the most visible opening weekend so far on its platforms, about 6.7 million people show Sunday’s Boston-Orelando game on ABC and just over 8 million for that game.
Silver said that it really excited him to go to the digital world.
“I say about the Maning House, however in the steroids,” Silver said. “Basically the unlimited number of alternative channels.”
The NBA has acknowledged that the ratings this season started slowly, which has blamed it for a World Series, which is giving extra attention to the two huge media markets – New York and Los Angeles – and the presidential election.
The numbers have been warded throughout the whole season, and silver recently said that the league has been about 2% of the years in the last weeks of the regular season.
