Madrid – The winner of the record 24 Grand Slam, Novak Djokovich says that he may feel the changes in tennis.
He says people have begun to accept that there is no Roger Federer, and there is no Rafael Nadal and soon – there is no noodle.
Prior to the opening match of this year’s Madrid Open, the 37-year-old young man said, “You may feel that there is a shift,” where he will try to win the 100th tour-level title in the milestone.
“Not just for the generation of players (who now) the original focus and attention. But I guess that people are not playing Roger and Rafa, and (Andy) take some time to accept this fact and I guess one day.”
Djokovich said that he was trying to “represent the elderly boys, the senior generation” and “to the tournament and to have a positive impact on this tour itself.”
“One of the reasons why I keep playing,” he said. “Because I think it still helps the tennis coming and the crowds coming and the tournaments to help and become interested.”
Grand Slam and some ATPs like the Indian Wales and some ATPs mentioned the “record-breaking” number in the presence of 1000 tournaments.
“(It) good news that it should not be dependent on the big stars or legends of retired games,” he said. “Everyone in the sport should surpass the sport, the sport will be out of all, and the sport is more important than anyone. So we are all here in a sport service.
“This is a thing to remember, when you play and as a top player you are trying to contribute to the popularity of tennis that you are doing outside of the court, bring more people, to bring young children and people to tennis, and are interested in tennis i
Zokovich mentioned that he was some of the current young people – such as Spanish star Carlos Alkaraj, 21, – when he began to dominate the tour.
“In the meantime we say, 23 and 33 when it was really happening. Carlos is still not 23,” said Jokovich. ” “We have to remember that what is his age and what he has done for his age is not normal. I’m sure we will see him on the big stage with the trophies in the future, whatever, 10 years, 15 years, as long as he is playing.”
Due to muscle injury, Alkaraj moved away from his home tournament. He was the same half the draw as Djokovic.
Madrid’s three -time champion, Djokovic, did not play in the Spanish capital after losing to Alkaraj in the semifinals of 2022. He is on Saturday to play Mattio Arnaldi in Italy.
Both Monti Carlo and Indian Wells are looking for the first title of the season to lose in his opening match. He reached the final in Miami, losing straight to Zakub Manasic.
Djokovich won his 99th title at the Paris Olympics last August. Since then he has lost four finals. Only two players to reach the milestone of 5 titles are Jimmy Consner (5) and Federer (5).
