Chicago O’Hare alerts of measles detected in international traveler

Illinois Public Health Department (IDPH) is playing alarm at a potential ham exposure at Chicago O’har International Airport.

In a press release on April 7, the department identified two confirmed ham cases in Cook County.

These are the first two cases in the county, following the first confirmed cases of the state of South Illinois adult on April 23.

A case was identified as the Cook County adult in the suburbs of an unknown vaccine who sought treatment at the local hospital on April 25th.

The second case was identified among the Chicago adults who traveled internationally through the O’Hehar Airport in April.

Patients who had an eastern dose of MMR (Humps-Rubella) vaccine reported on the onset of a rash on April 25.

Both people have been separated at home since the diagnosis.

• Wednesday, Apr 23, 2025: O’Are Airport, 10am to 8am, especially Terminal 1
• Friday, Apr 28, 2025: Aldi: 7235 39th ST, Lyons, IL 6053, 10am to 12:30 pm
• Sunday, Apr 2725: Shell: 3901S Harlem Avey., Stickney, IL 60402, 10am to 12:30 pm
• Monday, Apr 28, 2025: Mobil: 2945S Harlem Avee, Barwin, IL 60402, 10:20 AM from 1 am

The IDPH requests all the people of 12 months of age to get two doses of MMR vaccine before traveling internationally.

Persons that can be exposed should be observed for their symptoms and if they are uncertain about the previous vaccine, their healthcare supplier should be notified.

If symptoms occur, according to healthcare officials, their healthcare supplier should be notified before reaching any facility to ensure “special measures”.

The hams are extremely infectious and easily spread through the wind, the IDPH mentions that 90% of the people near the infected person will be infected even if it is not vaccinated.
