Driver, victims in Chatham, Illinois crash that killed 3 kids, 1 teen ID’d; driver not in custody, state police say

Drivers and victims in the accident Illinoi’s Dowstate Chattham killed three children and one teenager in a post-school programIt has been identified, Illinois state police said.

The state police were called out of summer at around 5pm on Monday and after the school camp when a car collapsed on the east side of the building.

The car hit several people outside the building, it hit many people. It finally broke the opposite side of the building and came to a stop.

On Tuesday morning, the state police identified the driver’s 44 -year -old Marianne Akshas of Illinoi’s Chatham. State police said he was not currently in custody as their investigation into the accident continued.

Three girls-two 7 years old, a 8-year-old-and an 18-year-old woman died. Sangaman County Coroner identified them as Johnson in their 8 -year -old Legislated in Chatham; Springfield’s 18 -year -old Riley Briton; Catherine Carley, 7 -year -old in Chatham; And 7 -year -old Alma Buhrankemp in Chatham.

Coroner said all four were declared dead at the scene. The initial death investigation revealed that they all died due to sustainable injuries in the accident, coroner said.

Additional six children were injured. Most were taken to a local hospital by ambulance but one had to hold a life flight helicopter. A victim is in critical condition on Tuesday morning.

State police said they did not believe that the accident was a target attack.

Illinois Governor JB Pretzkar said that he was “terrified and deeply sorry” in the fatal incident. “Our community lost a group of brilliant and innocent young men with their entire life in front of them,” wrote in a post by Pretzar X. “My heart is heavy for these families and they are facing unimaginable mourning – something that no parent has to bear to endure.”

About 12 miles south of Springfield in Chatham Sangaman County. It does not need to be confused with the Chicago parade on the south side of Chatham.

Illinois state police have not released any further details on Tuesday morning, or say whether any allegations against the bizar were pending. State police said he was not injured and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Toxicology reports are pending, state police said on Tuesday morning.
