Google will pay Texas $ 1.5 billion dollars to claim that the state’s attorney general announces on Friday, claiming that the company has collected users’ data.
Attorney General Ken Papton describes this settlement as a message to technology agencies that he will not allow them to earn money by “selling our rights and freedom”.
“In Texas, the Big Tech Act is not in the Above.” Pacston said in a statement. “Over the years Google tracks people with their products and services by tracking people in secret, personal search and even their voiceprints and face geometry. I fought back and won.”
The agreement settled a number of Texas against the search giant in 2022 with geolocation, camouflage search and biometric data. The state argued that Google was “illegally tracking and collecting users’ personal data”.
Paptton claimed that, for example, Google has collected several million biometric detectives, including Voiceprint and Face Geometry records through products and services as Google Photos and Google Assistant.
Google spokesperson Jose Casteda says that the deal disposes an array of “old claims”, some of which are related to the product policies that have already changed.
“We are happy to leave us behind us, and we will continue to create strong privacy control over our services.”
The company further made it clear that no new product was needed to change the settlement.
Pyxton said that this type of data-privateness was won with Google in a settlement with any state of $ 1.5 billion.
Texas had earlier reached two more main settlements with Google in the last two years, including a co -operation in December 2021, where the company agreed to pay $ 700 million to resolve the allegations against its Android App Store.
A privacy case has also agreed with Meta Texas about $ 1.5 billion in complaint that the Tech Giant has used biometric data without their permission.
