London – British prosecutors said on Tuesday that a man arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of Ice Hockey player Adam Johnson has been told that he will not face any allegations.
Johnson played for Nottingham Panther’s, and Sheffield Steeller Defense Defenseman Matt Petgrav died on October 28, 2021, in a clash on the 21st of 2021.
Two weeks later, one was arrested and although the South Yorkshire police did not publicly introduce him, Petgrav himself appealed to the crowd funding to pay legal fees that he was a police investigation.
On Tuesday, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided that it would not bring criminal charges against the arrested person as it was described as “a tragic and deep annoying event.”
“CPS and other ice hockey players involved in the South Yorkshire police have worked closely to determine if any criminal charges should be made,” said Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Michael Quin.
“After the entire investigation of all the evidence of the CPS and following a broad review, we reached this conclusion that there is no realistic possibility of being convicted of any criminal offense and therefore no prosecution will be with Adam John’s family and friends.”
After the arrest, Petgrav was re -excluded several times during the investigation.
Johnson fell into the defensive zone in Sheffield when Petgrav collided with another Panthers player nearby. As soon as the left skate of Petgrav began to read, the blade hit Johnson’s neck.
The indigenous resident of Minnesota Hibbing was declared dead at a nearby hospital. The death of a 26 -year -old Pittsburg Penguins player started controversy across sports over the improvement of players’ protection.
The 32 -year -old Canadian Petgrav had some support for Johnson’s teammates. Victor Bijarkung told a Swedish newspaper there that “this is not an opportunity to be intentional.” Bijarkung played the pass to Johnson and said he was hurt by what he saw. As a result, he left the party.
Johnson was the first season in Nottingham-one of the “Imports” player-Germany in the Elite Ice Hockey League and after a few handfuls of games for Penguins during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 season.
Johnson was living with the fiancée Ryan Olph and was studying in Lofbro Business School.
The English Ice Hockey Association, which operates under the Elite League, reacted to Johnson’s death that all England players should be worn from the beginning of 2024.
