Athens, Greece – A medical charity working in Greece says they have identified six young children living in an immigrant facility in the Eastern Island Samos, who have been diagnosed with the first time since the launch of this facility in 2021.
The Greek section of the Doctors with Borders, which is known by the French briefs, said on Monday, its staff had diagnosed children between 6 months to 6 years of age, with moderate to severe malnutrition and immediate treatment intervention.
MSF Greece Director General Christina Serra said in a press release, “Children (camps (camps) are about 20%of the population, yet the pediatric care goes inadequate, not just within the center of the center, but on the entire island of Samos.”
The six children from Afghanistan and Syria came to the camp with their families within the last two to three months and it was not possible to determine whether they were already suffering from malnutrition before they arrived, Parara told the Associated Press.
However, “of course the conditions of the camp have made the issues more difficult and have had a more serious impact,” he said.
Asked about the MSF’s claim, the Ministry of Migration and shelter informed that it would be a response on Monday.
Sara said that while providing food for the residents of the camp, the diet is “not nutritious for kids of this age.” He added that the situation increased due to the ellipse provided to shelters in Greece nine months ago, which allowed them to buy fresh food and other basic requirements.
Nominated as a “closed controlled access center”, built on a hill about 8 km (5 miles) from the main port of the island of Samos, in Samos, was opened to replace a wider camp in the city’s fren in 2021.
The camp, which is kept by police and private protection, has a capacity of 3,664 and till Monday, according to the Ministry of Migration and shelter, 3,176 people were housing.
Sara mentions that the children had already endured horrific travel to reach Samos and the situation in the camp had exacerbated their treatment situation.
Rights groups have reported dire situation in Samos’s camp, including weak sanitation and ongoing water shortages.
“They are children who have passed through painful trips to the unfinished children in Samos. They had a lot of difficulty in arriving.” “The conditions of the camp make it worse.”
Greece is one of the most popular routes in the EU for people who have escaped conflicts and poverty in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Many are as short as samos, like the nearest Greek islands from the Turkish coast but the treacherous boat, often in small, incomplete inflatable dinghy.
