Michigan resident dies from rabies after contracting virus from transplanted organ, health officials say

The Health Department of the Toledo-Lucus County (Ohio) said on Wednesday that a Michigan resident died after receiving the replacement of Ohio on Wednesday.

The Michigan Health and Human Services Department confirmed the report that the patient died in January and the transplant took place in December.

The Michigan Agency said, “A public health investigation has determined that they have signed the Rabiz through the replacement organs.”

The patient got a transplanted organ and died there in Lucas County, where they died. The CDC explains that the rabies is a viral disease that symptoms are fatal for humans if treatment is not cared for before the start. It is usually spread between people and pets through bite or scratches from infected animals.

With the progress of the rabies, it worsens the severity of hallucinations and difficulty swallowing from symptoms like flu. The illness is almost always deadly as the symptoms appear.

There are less than 10 deaths from Rabiz every year among people in the United States.

The Michigan company said in his statement about the case, “Post exposure preventive care, if appropriate is supplied.”

The screening process for potential organ donors in the United States includes questions about donors’ mental conditions and tests for viruses and infections.
