One Georgia deputy killed, second wounded during traffic stop shooting

A sheriff’s deputy was killed and the second was injured in the shooting during a traffic stop near Georgia August on Saturday night, authorities said.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s office confirmed to CBS News that Augusta had a deadly shooting at Inter -Set 20. James Blake was the suspect identified as Montgomery.

The names of the deputy were not immediately released. The injured deputy was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, Sheriff’s office said.

The circumstances directed towards the shooting were still unclear.

The Deputy of Columbia County told CBS-approved WRDW-TV that the suspect was in a campaign near Mile Marker on Belire Road in 194.

Authorities work for the occupation of Montgomery as the helicopters and drones were in the air, the deputy said.

The WRW said officers were heard on the police radio “to take a picture of the suspects in the trailer.” The TV station said the focus was on the Rightboro Road, on the west of Jimmy Dyes Parkow, on the west of the block.

In a statement posted on social media, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp wrote that he and his family were praying for the Colombia County Sheriffs Deputy of Duty, the Colombia County Sheriffs Deputy, as well as his fellow law enforcement officers.
