Tens of thousands of Los Angeles County workers begin 2-day strike

Los Angeles – More than 1,5 Los Angeles county workers started a two -day strike on Monday evening, closing the libraries and disrupting administrative operations across the country’s most populous counties.

According to the Service Employees International Union 7222 leaders, the two -day strike was launched in response to a failed discussion with the county for the new agreement after the end of March in March.

The Union represents more than 5.5 workers, including public health professionals, social workers, parks and entertainment workers, custodians, clerk workers and more than 1 million residents. The union said that for the first time, members would go to the strike.

Union leader David Green said in a statement, “After the emergency, LA County received the LA County:” That is why we have received it with violation of labor law and respect for our workers. “

The strike will continue till 7pm on Wednesday. At this time, public service counters are expected to be closed in the library, some healthcare clinics, beach bathrooms and administration halls. According to the county, the office of the medical examiner and some other services of the Public Works Department may also be affected.

The Union Union has been accused of violating five labor laws during negotiations with surveillance and revenge, including surveillance and retaliation for the workers involved in the union activities.

LA County says it is facing “unprecedented pressure” on his budget, including a temporary billion of thousands of childhood sexual abuse, including 4 billion settlements in January, with $ 2 billion impact on LA Wildfire and possible loss of hundreds of millions of federal funds.

“We do not want to discuss ourselves in structural deficit – which can lead to the reduction of the service,” said Elizabeth Marcelino, a spokesman for the CEO. “We’re trying to maintain a balance: the time to maintain services and to avoid trimming between our worst financial challenges is a fair compensation for our workforce.”

The LA city is facing similar financial distress – Mayor Karen Bus has a recent budget of about $ 1 billion in the proposed budget of about $ 1 billion in city workers.

“We are fake of safety!”

Lilian Cabral, who worked in the hospital since 1970, said that the strike was a “historic tihasik moment” that was involved in custodians from the emergency room and radiology department.

The Cabral Price is part of the committee and he said that he was disappointed with a process that had long delay and slight movement from the county.

Cabral said, “This is so wrong to us, it’s so wrong for our patients and our clients and our community.”
