Tour van and pickup truck collide near Yellowstone National Park, killing 7 people

Idaho State Police said a pickup truck and tour van collided near Yellowstone National Park and seven others were injured.

A highway near Henry Lake State Park in East Idaho: The accident happened on Thursday just before 15am. The State Park is about 16 miles west of the Yellowstone National Park.

After the accident, both vehicles set fire to the Idaho State Police in a press release. Six people died inside the Dodge Ram Pickup driver and Mercedes passenger van. Police spokesman Aaron Snail said the van was carrying a tour group of five, and the survivors were taken to the hospital with injured occupants.

On Friday, the state police driver identified the 25 -year -old Esai Moreno of the humble Texas.

Witness Roger Merrill’s Associated Press showed after the accident that flames and smoke spread from the ruins.

Rescue workers arrived at the Lake State Park Park in Henry, East Idaho, on May 1, a deadly collision between a pickup truck and a tour van near 2025.

Mariel Merrill was driving the house when she found two driving flames trying to take care of the people who survived the vans next to the highway. Merrill said she often sees tourist vans on the highway that leads to Yellowstone National Park.

“This is a extremely dangerous highway because it takes it to the main entrance of Yellowstone National Park,” he said. “It’s extremely busy.”

Due to the remote location, Merrill said she had waited for the help of the first response to anxiously.

“An air ambulance and additional air and ground resource were sent due to the intensity of injured,” police said. In the next update, the state police said that the three occupants of the van were taken to Bozman, Montana and two others to Idaho at Idaho Falls. Other people were taken to the hospital that was believed to be a life-threatening way.

Authorities did not say the cause of the accident in the US Highway 20, which is under investigation.

State police said, “Dodge RAM was traveling on the west side (south -west on a map), while the Mercedes van was traveling to the east (north on a map) towards Yellowstone National Park,” state police said.

Police said the highway -20 was completely closed and the first reactionists investigated the incident. The Fremont County Sheriff’s office said on social media that the highway was opened again.

“Due to the complexity of this incident, the identification of all the individuals involved and the notification of their next relative will take time. The ISP Fremont will continue to provide the verified information as verified on behalf of the County Coroner’s office,” police said.

The accident occurred less than a year after six people were killed after a pickup was destroyed in a passenger van on the same highway in Idaho.
